Human resources development centre

The human resources development centre at institute of administrative science has been actively involved in human resource development within and outside the university. It conduct many training and development seeions and programs with organizing team of human resources development centre perform various functions.

Institute of administrative science 

The department of publicadministration, which is now the institute of administrative science, Was established in 1962 with the technical assistance provided by the U.S. Aid Mission To Pakistan to impart public administration education and research in Pakistan. under this project, A team of professors from the university of southern California under the headship of professor Dr. Don R. Larson developed the academic programs and local faculty members were inducted who were later sent to USC for doctoral studies.

Department of information management

The department of information management, university of the Punjab Lahore offers high quality education and research facilities to meet the needs of an emerging information and knowledge society in Pakistan. IM has the service of internationally known, eminent, senior and young faculty comprising PhDs and MPhils along with the visiting faculty with outstanding professional and academic credentials.

Department of economics 

The origin of the department of economics can be traced back to the year 1919 when a chair in economics was established at the university of the Punjab with a view to promote higher studies in the subject. Advice of manhy famous economists, such as E.C Gonver, S.G champman, Sidney webb and Mrs.Webb, Alfred Marshall, A.L bowley And J.M keynes, was sought for formulating a suitable curriculum for the university of the Punjab.

Department of social work 

The department was established in 1954. The chief objective of social work education is to provide trained social workers equipped with the basic knowledge and skills to assist government and private agencies in the development and execution  of social welfare programs.

Department of political science

The department of political science is one of the oldest teaching department of the university of the Punjab. It was established in 1933. The department is located in the new campus near auditorium. The department of political science is devoted to the study of the phenomenon  of politics in its theoretical and operational aspects.

Pakistan study centre 

The Pakistan study centre, university of the Punjab was established in 1981 and has been functioning as an independent unit since March 2003. The main objective of the centre is to promote and undertake research on themes relating tohistory, politics, foreign affairs, economy, culture and language of Pakistan.

Department of philosophy 

The department of philosophy was formally inaugurated by the then vice-chancellor, professor Hamid Ahmad Khan, on March 7, 1964. Originally, it was housed at Lawrence road, Lahore. On June 27, 1964. It was shifted to new campus and after a few changes of location, Was finally housed in its present premises. Professor Qazi Muhammad aslam was the first chairman of the department . In 1965, Dr. C.A Qadir replaced him as chairman of the department professor Karamat Hussain jaffary headed the department for a short period of time.

Department of history and Pakistan studies

The was established in 1932 with j.f Bruce as it's firstprofessor. It soon earned recognition owing to its high standard and expertise in a wide range of historical disciplines. The department since then stands as one of the liveliest and the largest history departments of all the universities in Pakistan.

The department of French was established in 1951 in order to cater your the needs of French language learning students. French is a living, Practical language, Unsurpassed in clarity logic, Precision and finesse besides having diplomatic, Commercial and scientific uses. It has a soul and a character of its own owing to its rich civilization. it is spoken in as many as 42 countries of the the world and is internationally recognized to be a cultured and refined language.

Department of English language and literature

The need For a department of English was felt as far back as 1932 on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the university of the Punjab. Even earlier, Two British professors, Dr. Oliver Elton and Dr. Daniel Jones had visited Lahore with the specific purpose of creating interest in English literature and language. The university of Punjab had the tradition of coordinating the teaching resources available in various colleges in Lahore for a range of subjects including English.

Department of archaeology

As a discipline of social science, archaeology has been developed as a scientific subject during last two centuries which deals with the human past. Fundamentally it deals with field work which involves explorations, surveys and excavations. More precisely archaeology recontructs the human past by studying, Analysing and examining material culture.

Centre for south Asian studies

The centre was set up in its embryonic form in 1973 and acquired its presents status in 1975. The centre sets out to extend and improve the public understanding of socio-economic and political developments in south Asia, particularly in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
